I had their classic dish and loved it. My partner had indonesian dish, which was avarage. Lovely starters and friedly staff. Not a great place for vegans though, so keep it in mind.

Creative vegetarian food inspired by cuisines from all over the world, yet with a comforting home-cooked feel with generous portions that would suit many non-vegetarians. Cosy and relaxed atmosphere with a friendly cat (Stevie).

This entirely vegetarian restaurant had some great looking options on the menu, which sadly I couldn't try. The vegan options were very limited; there were only two vegan main dishes. The overall quality of the food was nothing special; some dishes a little bit like dutch fast food even. The carrot pudding for dessert was very disappointing.

Went to this place based on the good reviews and was very dissapionted. The food was overpriced and bland. The menu was small and confusing. We got a starter of 'tapas for two' which was basically three tiny portions of hard chickpeas and olives, mushrooms, and four small pieces of bread for Nearly 9 euro!?! Then we had the 'Brazilian special' which was the most expensive thing on the menu, and was essentially a plate of black beans, Bok Choy and some extremely sweet coconut rice. Overall we were left feeling dissapionted, hungry and skint.

My colleague and I have just finished a long week at the IBC conference with an outstanding meal at de Waalhals. We were welcomed by the establishment's nonchalant cat, and then by the friendly and engaging anglophione staff. My colleague is vegan, and they were only too happy to ensure he had as wide a range of options from the menu as possible. THe atmosphere was relaxed calm and casual, and the food excellent. Soup of the day and mini tapas starters both hit their respective spots- the soup wholesome and tasty, the tapas fresh and envigourating. Mains were packed with flavour and came in generous portions, and desert (panaforte!) took a usually heavy and dangerous dish and made a light but hearty dish. All in all a tremendous evenings dining- utterly perfect!
